Our aim is to ensure that any Solid Fuel burnt in your
home or workplace is done so safely and efficiently. Regular cleaning
of your chimney or flue and maintenance of the appliance is necessary to
achieve that. Stuart brings a reliable and friendly service backed up
with the latest industry training and equipment to eliminate dust and mess.
Our chimney sweeping service operates from a dedicated Solid Fuel
Centre showroom providing extensive knowledge of fuels, appliances,
and contacts in the
event of problems we can't resolve.
We seal your
fireplace opening. Clean your chimney using power rods. A
HEPA filtered industrial vacuum collects the soot. After sweeping
we put a smoke pellet in the opening to check the draw of the chimney.
A NACS certificate is then issued.

Your Safety: Your stove, flue system, and
register/closure plates need to be professionally fitted by a HETAS
registered installer or signed off by a Building Inspector.
The chimney or flue system needs to be swept on a regular basis to keep
it clear and free from build up of soot or creosote. This is for
your safety, all solid fuels produce carbon monoxide which can and
does kill many people in the UK each year. Please be Carbon
Monoxide Aware, check out these reference websites:
Carbon Monoxide Kills (global).
By law, ABoC are unable to dismantle flue
pipes, or move stoves once they have been fitted and reserve the
right to not sweep any DIY fitted appliances.
Your cowl needs to be securely fitted as
the sweeping process may dislodge and knock it off the chimney pot.
Best endeavours will be made to replace but a suitable qualified
person may be required to refit or supply and fit a new cowl.
Regardless of cost, a cowl falling off your chimney presents a
serious risk to whatever or more importantly whoever it hits.
Sweeping is likely to be the process that will
identify any flue liner damage. The result of sweeping
is the brush may tangle itself in the liner and unravel it.
There is no alternative but to pull the brush out and have your flue
liner replaced. Unfortunately, ABoC cannot be held responsible
for identifying this problem.
Since October 2010 it became a requirement of UK
Building Regulations to fit a Carbon Monoxide Detector
whenever a stove is installed. ABoC recommend that all
appliances have an in-date CMD installed. These can be
provided off van for £21 inc VAT and fitted for a small charge.
